Training for Veterinary Assistants

On the 3rd of June a face-to-face training for VTAs took place at the Hospital Balmesvet in Barcelona and on the 18th of June at the Hospital Veterinario San Bernardo in Moncófar.

The speaker was Erika Conejo, head of ATVs at the Hospital Clinic Veterinari de la Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and the first in Spain to be certified as VTSSECC (Veterinary Technician Specialist in Emergency and Critical Care) by the American College.

In each training more than 20 attendees were able to enjoy the training which covered various topics such as the organization of the emergency room, triage and CPR, recognition and treatment of different types of shock and placement of peripheral catheter, nasal, nasogastric and bladder catheterization for both dogs and cats.

These training sessions were rated as excellent by the attendees and were sponsored by SantéVet. We would like to thank the Balmesvet Hospital for allowing us to carry out the training at their facilities.
